GOP 2024 hopefuls questioned on Trump ahead of his jail surrender

With a show of hands, most Republican presidential hopefuls indicated they would back Donald Trump even if he's a convicted criminal. With a show of hands Wednesday night, most Republican presidential hopefuls indicated they would back Donald Trump even if he's a convicted criminal. Six candidates on the debate stage in Milwaukee raised their hands when asked if they would support Trump as the party's nominee if he is found guilty in a court of law in one of the four cases against him. The first hand to go in the air was that of Vivek Ramaswamy, who has promised to pardon Trump. He was soon followed by Nikki Haley, Tim Scott and Doug Burgum. Then Ron DeSantis and even Mike Pence. The question came one day before Trump's expected surrender in Georgia, where he and 18 other have been charged for alleged efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state. Trump has denied any wrongdoing in the case. MORE: Georgia election case live updates: DA seeks October trial,

Raheem Sterling is leading by example as one of Chelsea's senior players

FROM STAMFORD BRIDGE - Chelsea have spent approaching a billion pounds in just over a year under the watch of everyone's favourite big spender, Todd Boehly. Their strategy has pivoted over the three transfer windows the Blues have had to throw that cash around, and while they now seem settled on a plan to swallow up every single young player who is any good at football anywhere in the world, it's the first signing of the post-Abramovich era that has stepped up to the plate since the start of the new season. Raheem Sterling has won most things at club level, and while he may have cast an envious eye at his former Manchester City teammates as they finally won the Champions League after years of trying last season (you could forgive him for doing so considering his new team finished 12th) he's setting out for this campaign intent on making a statement. While he'd arguably been Chelsea's best player in the opening two weeks of the season, it was at home to Luton Town on

COSTCO coming (again) to Cranston. Success will be in the details.

Image
It was a tweet from Gene Valicenti (NBC10, WPRO Radio) which let Rhode Island know – again – that COSTCO is coming to Cranston. They have passed on locating in the Chapel View development area (long theoried and on a Carpionato Corp. map shown to Cranston residents, albeit inadvertently) and have opted in on the long-vacant Medium Security Prison off Pontiac Avenue. Auctioned off to an LLC in 2021, and now COSTCO identified developer Baccari Corporation, will position COSTCO, and a gas station. While COSTCO traditionally includes a liqour store, license availability in Cranston is in question, and for now, that is not a sure thing. The process of rezoning, etc., could still mean 18 months, at best, before doors would be open. Zoning, DEM approval, City Council approval, etc. all in question. Cranston Mayor Hopkins reacts In a press release titled, “Mayor Hopkins excited over COSTCO coming to Cranston”, Hopkins expressed excitement and support for the pending formal

Brighton close on Carlos Baleba & open loan talks for Arsenal midfielder

Brighton & Hove Albion are closing in on the signing of Lille midfielder Carlos Baleba, sources have confirmed to 90min . The 19-year-old has emerged as the Seagulls' top transfer target following the departure of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a British-record £115m fee. Baleba broke through into Lille's first-team last season to replace Amadou Onana, quickly establishing himself as one of the brightest young prospects in Ligue 1, and 90min revealed in March that a number of top Premier League clubs were keeping an eye on his performances. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United were among those to watch Baleba, while Nottingham Forest have shown interest this summer as they bid to retain their Premier League status for a second consecutive season. But it's Brighton who are now closing in on Baleba's signature, after 90min revealed earlier this month that talks had taken place over a potential deal. A fee of around €30m (£25.5m) has been agreed in principle

Moon landing anticipation builds for India after Russia's crash

BENGALURU: India's space agency on Monday released images its spacecraft took of the far side of the moon as it headed for an attempted landing on the lunar south pole, just days after the failure of a Russian lander. The Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft had been in a race with Russia to be the first to land on the lunar south pole, a region whose shadowed craters are thought to contain water ice that could support a future moon settlement. As news of the failure of Russia's Luna-25 mission broke on Sunday, ISRO said that Chandrayaan-3 was on course to land on Aug. 23. All systems on the spacecraft are working "perfectly" and no contingencies are anticipated on the landing day, the space agency said on Monday. The mission - Chandrayaan means "moon vehicle" in Hindi and Sanskrit - is India's second attempt to land on the south pole of the moon. In 2019, ISRO's Chandrayaan-2 mission successfully deployed

Roy Keane delivers ultimate insult to Man Utd after sorry Tottenham defeat

Manchester United legend Roy Keane dished out the ultimate insult on his former team by labelled them the "new Spurs" following a sorry performance on Saturday evening. United, having looked laboured against Wolves in their Premier League opener last Monday, were convincingly beaten by Tottenham Hotspur on their first away trip of the campaign. Erik ten Hag’s team did hit the woodwork through Antony and forced Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario into a couple of outstanding saves, but it would have only papered over the cracks of an otherwise lacklustre display. "I think Man United are the new Spurs," Keane coldly said after the game on Sky Sports . "Desperate. Absolutely desperate. Biggest insult I always think about teams are teams who can't do it away from home or players who aren't up for it away from home." It was during Keane's own United career that Sir Alex Ferguson delivered one of his most famous pre-match team talks, amounting to on

Liverpool line up shock move for Stuttgart captain

Liverpool have opened talks with Stuttgart over a deal for captain and defensive midfielder Wataru Endo, sources have confirmed to 90min . The Reds, who have failed to seal deals for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in the last week as both opted to join Chelsea, have been working hard to look for midfield reinforcements. Liverpool, who could bring in two extra midfielders on top of summer recruits Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, have money to splash following the sales Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia - they previously had a £111m bid for Caicedo accepted by Brighton. Now, one of the options to full their void at the base of midfield has emerged in the shape of Stuttgart's Endo. 90min understands the 30-year-old Japan international has been picked out by Liverpool's new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke. Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool: Six things we learned from Stamford Bridge cracker

Image
Amid the backdrop of one of the craziest transfer pursuits of all time, the Moises Caicedo derby between Chelsea and Liverpool served up a real treat on the opening Sunday of the new Premier League season. An absorbing bout at Stamford Bridge saw the spoils shared yet again between the two Premier League behemoths, although the quality of the contest was unlike the dire, stodgy stalemates that played out in 2022/23. This was chaos, and not the orderly sort either. Just straight unfiltered chaos. In the end, Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp would've been content with their side's work in west London. Both teams are bound to improve on their underwhelming (slight understatement for Chelsea) campaigns last time out, and here are a few things we learned about the two teams on Sunday afternoon.
